Left to Right - Kieron Tomlins, Mel Gato, Ryan French, Tammy Davis, Joao Doege
Born in the coalfields (Muswellbrook/Maitland way), cooking has always been in Kieron's blood. From a young age, you would find him working in his family's takeaway shop helping prepare and cook food with great flair. Kieron followed his passion for food which has seen him create culinary delights in some of The Hunter’s fine dining restaurants and local pub bistros. He has worked with & learned from some of the best chefs that Newcastle has to offer. If Kieron isn’t in the kitchen you will probably find him somewhere by the water with his son Lochie, fishing rod in his hand catching their next supper.
Mel has been cooking for 18 years. She worked at the Exchange and the Mary Ellen before moving across to Swansea RSL where she worked for 10 years in the al a carte restaurant, handling all functions and running the bistro at the club. Most of her experience is with bistro-style foods (steaks, schnitzels, burgers, pastas, etc). Her favourite food is Mexican. She believes her family eats Mexican food at least once a week and she loves being able to bring her knowledge and love of Mexican food to Lexie’s Thursday nights. Hobbies include camping, bushwalking, and a massive Stephen King fanatic who loves watching horror movies!!
Born and bred on the central coast NSW, Ryan now calls Stockton home. He is passionate about surfing, good food and anything creative. With 10 years cooking experience, Ryan has an extensive background working for a variety of restaurants, cafes, and pubs throughout Sydney and The Central Coast.
Trade qualified in the Australian Army and has over 30 years experience working in restaurants, Tammy has worked in cafes throughout Sydney, The Blue Mountains and Port Stephens. She has a love of surfing the beautiful local beaches, running, and eating Thai food.
“She also likes pina coladas and getting caught in the rain… ;)”
Originally from Brazil, Joao now calls Australia home. Over 8 years experience and a passion for fresh, full-flavoured food. His Brazilian background extends to include such influences as South American, Mexican and Italian cuisine. This helps us mix things up in the kitchen for the weekly specials, so keep an eye out for dishes with a sexy twist.
